We normally slow down for Autumn but this year we have been really busy with visits to some great events including, the Pantiles Food & Drink Festival and Harvest festivals and some school visits. Abby has also been busy with cuddle corner visits to Age UK care centres, parties and Dobbies Garden World to name a few.
We eventually managed to have our family holiday and enjoyed some well deserved sun for half term and now we are busy preparing for our first Reindeer booking on the 16th Nov.
James has built the sleigh which looks great and Tinsel and Star are also looking in really good condition. We have had a great response and with the exception of a couple of weekdays early Dec are now fully booked.
It was with heavy hearts that we have had to say goodbye to our lovely Lab Holly. Holly was nearly 14 years old and was in quite a lot of pain and I know she will not only be terribly missed by us but also the children as she was a firm favourite with all our visits.
We have added some lovely Southdown ewes to our flock. These ‘Teddy Bear’ sheep have already been visited by the Ram so looking forward to taking out their adorable lambs next spring..
We had a shaky start to the 2013 season, James unfortunately had a accident playing Rugby (yes he IS TOO Old!) and had to spend 6 weeks on crutches and unable to drive. Luckily due to the success of the Mobile Farm Experience, I am now full time working with James so Tom and I started the season on our own.
It was a horrible cold start with lots of snow but we had some great visits. Luckily James had a quick recovery and was back working for Easter.
We have some lovely babies; over 30 healthy lambs and Daisy has had 2 gorgeous Kids, Gary and Gertie.
Daffodil is due in the next week or so, she is looking huge so our guess is triplets or more! Daisy and Daffodil have been with us from the start and are well known and loved so it is great to get them back out on visits and Daisy loves showing off the babies!!
Daisy is producing lots of milk, enough for us and the kids so we have started making cheese, yum!
We have also started Cuddle Corner, a small petting experience for the visits who don’t have the space or budget for the full Mobile Farm. This will be available Aug-Feb for our quieter months. We have already secured lots of bookings and our first visit May bank holiday weekend was a real hit!
Now in our 4th year we have had a fantastic response from schools and are already fully booked until the end of July.
So a busy next few months….
