Oxted Secondary School- NVQ students Animal Care

Dear James and Abby,

I would like to thank you for the excellent day that you provided last Wednesday. All of the students had a great time and just as importantly did more than enough to pass their assessment. They learnt a great deal and found the whole experience extremely interesting.

FEEDING THE 5000 EVENT- We were asked to take 4 Kune Kune Pigs up to Trafalgar Square for Friends of the Earth to promote food wastage in the UK, 5000 people were given free lunch from all the food including wonky carrots which is normally thrown away..

Just a quick email to say thank you so much for supplying the pigs and being brilliant on Friday, I thought the event went fantastically and there’s been lots of media coverage! I will send you some photos when we get them back from team members.

Beaver Green school -This was a 2 day visit covering all 19 classes!

I just wanted to email to say thank you so much for organising the mobile farm over the last couple of days. My class went today and LOVED it! The people running it were so good with the children and the children just loved finding out about the animals and being able to stroke and hold them.

Thanks you so much for a wonderful day here at Joy Lane. The feedback we had from children and parents was great, and it was wonderful for them to be able to get so close to the animals, and touch, and smell them. I know that the two nurseries and the reception children of the school also had a really valuable experience.

Hi!

I just wanted to say a big thank you for bringing the animals to Whitfield last Friday. The children really enjoyed the experience and I have had very positive feedback from the Key Stage 1 teachers. For some of the children it was the first time that they had been in such close contact with farm animals and the chance to bottle feed them was a huge experience.

Thank you very much for your visit. The children and adults, especially Mr Ratcliffe, enjoyed the opportunity to touch and feed the animals.

The experience covered so many different aspects of the children’s curriculum – the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum.

It is very expensive to take children on a coach to visit the farm so the opportunity for the farm to come to them is fantastic.

A most enjoyable learning experience for all the children. They continue to talk about it.
